So as a lot of yall know, there are 16 mission trainees for this summer! I just want all of us to keep them in our prayers. Its a scary thought just to know that they will be going to other countries all over the world to spread the very word that most of us take for granted. Also for evangelism, wherever it may be, to get the gospel out to those that havent been reached.

hi guys.
this is tiffany chung [i'm the second year with really short hair for those of you who don't know me]. I have a prayer request and was wondering if you could all take the time to read this and pray for it. so my sister [2 yrs. older] left this past september to li jiang, china [very country side china] for a one year-long mission. She went to this orphanage where she “taught english”. These kids range from kindergarten or preschool to high school and they’re amazing. one time my sister told me that they just finished the whole bible in 3 weeks and now they’re starting over. again. [motivation like mad, right??]. well anyway. of course, spreading God’s word like that there is a major X and they’ve been sneaking it for a while now, but they got the world today that the government found out. they only have a week to send all the children away to different orphanages and such, and for two of the kids, they only have 2 days since those kids aren’t from that district [the girl's the one my sister named after me] :’( My sister was in tears as she told me over videochat because, of course, she’ll miss them, she doesn’t know where to go, and she’s scared for most of the children. only the older kids know so far and she’s heart-broken for all the kids that have to go to abusive, corrupt orphanages, or to huge orphanages where it’s not like a home/family and where they can’t/won’t learn about God. So that’s a little summary of what’s happening right now, so if you would, please keep these things on your heart and pray for:
1) that the children will be safe and loved wherever they go
2) that God would use the missionaries and my sister somewhere else/in a different way/etc.
3) that they won’t catch my sister [her name is cat] otherwise she’ll be banned from China and will not be allowed back. [She feels called to China for long term/permanent missions]
4) that the children would go and spread God’s love and word to all the different places that they’ll be sent out to
5) whatever else you feel needs to be prayed about

He grew up in a Christian family and he identifies himself as a Christian. However, However, he seems to be a Catholic based on his view of good works. He doesn’t believe in the Trinity nor does he understand why God allowed us to rebel (the Fall).

He is a Muslim student. He seemed to be knowledgable of the Abrahamic faiths. Criticized the Bible for its many translations (languages) and noted that the Quran/Koran was in the same language everywhere.

He is a second-year political science student. He claims to be an Orthodox Catholic (stress on the Orthodox). He attended Catholic school. He goes to church but not often. He says he believes in the gospel. His prayer request was for school and for his family.
John Doe
He graduated/walked but is still taking classes. He is Jewish but he holds more to the culture than to the religion. He admits he is a secular guy. He believes that others can believe what they want; he has a “you’re on your own” mentality.
Tracy
She is a fourth-year student. Her parents are Buddhist. She has visited (Christian) churches in the past but still holds to Buddhism. She is part of an organization (Buddhist) that goes to skid row to help out there. The organization actually borrows a churches parking lot. The pastor of that church shares verses with the group and prays with them. Her beliefs are not clear cut. She is focused on good works.
Victor
He is a second-year international student and does not have a religious background He believes that there is an Almighty being (more like a presence). However, he doesn’t know what thias being is like. He thinks that the fact that Jesus came into the world and died on the cross means that Gos indeed is not Almighty (that the world was getting too out of control).
Hello UCLA KCM,
This coming Wednesday (10/5) will be the first seeker group meeting. The group has two people at this point, of which both were in seeker group last year. They are atheists. They thought of gospel as more of a story. They were not too responsive.

He is a graduate student from Egypt. He was raised in and firmly holds to the Muslim faith. He believes that Jesus Christ was a good prophet. Whether Christ died on a cross or not doesn’t matter to Him. He believes that each person is responsible for his/her own actions and salvation; one cannot die for others.

He has a Catholic background and goes to church every Sunday. However, he says he doesn’t really have a personal relationship with God and his faith has been backsliding ever since college. Please keep him in prayer because he seemed to really respond to the gospel!

He comes from a Catholic background. However, he no longer attends church/mass. The reason for this is because he doesn’t know much, but the desire for knowledge and understanding was evident. He seemed to be “almost there”. He actually asked for contact info and wants to be contacted next school year. Please be in prayer for him as he may be a potential seeker group member for next year!

She is an international student from Indonesia. She did not seem certain when identifying herself as a Christian. She has knowledge of the Bible in that she knows the facts but she doesn’t yearn for a spiritual relationship. God isn’t a big part in her life. She was open to talking and was willing to be prayed for. Her prayer request was that she would desire a spiritual relationship.

He is from San Diego and is a Christian. He was invited to KCM and church but declined. He had been a part of a campus ministry but was scarred and hurt when his bible study leader stopped contacting him.

She is a 6th(?) year PhD student studying archaeology, specifically the Coptic Egyptian period. She believes herself to be more of a spiritual person than a religious person. She is a Hindu but doesn’t follow the rituals nor does she go to the temple. She has traveled a lot in her lifetime and has been exposed to many different religions. She finds that her life goal/aim is to be a good person and help others.
Joanna (Joshua Kim)
She was one of the people with clipboards around Ackerman Union. She was spreading awareness/raising support for a law group that destroys hate groups (whether they be racial, religious, sexual, etc.). She is a religious studies major who just completed a course on the history of Christianity last quarter. However, she has not personally considered religion or faith.

He is a member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). He had a problem with drugs since the age of twelve. He turned/turns to drugs so that he can feel different. He always wants to feel better than his current state…a longing for more (sound familiar?). He has been sober for over four years now and AA was said to play a part in this progress. He claims to have found peace due to AA. In regards to religion, his view is that it helps more people than it harms but it isn’t for him. Prayer request for him is that he would not be satisfied with a program, AA, but that he would seek the person, Christ.
Angeli (Daniel Lee, Joshua Kim)
She is a public health graduate student at UCLA. She stopped attending (Catholic) church at the age of six but the rest of her family has kept up in their church attendance. Jesus is a prophet-like figure to her. She knows what the Bible says about the Christ and God but she does not hold to the truths of Scripture.
Yadida (Taylor and Tina Oh)
She came to the Catholic faith at the age of thirteen. She used to be active at church and attended mass and church regularly before entering college. She has not gone out to mass as often since coming to college. Her prayer request: Ramiro, her brother, has been sick for five months now and he has stomach pains that cannot be diagnosed.
Evan (Taylor, Tina Oh)
He was once a Catholic. He abandoned religion (in general) since there are so many religions out there. The difference between Christianity and other religions as well as the concept of grace were discussed. His plan is to live his life the way he wants until he is seventy years old. Once he reaches the age of seventy, then he will cry out to God. He claims that he would believe if only God would show him a sign. He was described as being very stubborn. Let us pray for God to move his heart!

First-year student who commutes to school. She is a pastor’s daughter. She holds to Pentecostal beliefs and her church is very conservative. Her church picks and chooses several portions of Scripture to follow in terms of what is required. She holds to the belief in the Trinity. Her church preaches that women must not cut their hair and that pants cannot be worn. A fairly strange requirement was that the members of her church cannot go to the movie theatre(physical location), but they can watch movies at home and such. She believes that one can fall out of salvation.
