Happy 2012 everyone!!

It’s the beginning of a new year, a new quarter – which means new events and happenings at UCLA KCM! woohoo! Hope you all are excited for what’s to come

So here’s what’s going down this quarter:

1. Missions Report Night – Week 2 (1/19/12)
We will be having our Missions Report Night this Thursday during our General Meeting (GM). Join us for a time of testimony sharing, skits, body worship, and worshiping our Lord and Savior! If you are interested in going out on missions this summer with KCM, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more and increase that desire to go overseas!

2. Outreach Night – Week 5 (2/9/12)
Outreach Night will be on the Thursday of Week 5! Outreach Night is a GM geared specifically for reaching out to our unbelieving friends here at UCLA. KCM is big on outreach and sharing the Gospel, and it is our desire to show the same love that is lavished upon us through Christ unto those who do not know the Gospel. Every night should be outreach night, but we want to set aside a day completely and specifically for that great purpose. Come out to Outreach Night and invite your friends!

3. Poetry Auction – Week 6 (2/16/12)
Our annual Poetry Auction is coming up on the Thursday of Week 6! For those of you who don’t know what it is, Poetry Auction is a missions fundraiser that we have where groups of guys get together and prepare some sort of presentation (song, video, dance, poem, etc) to appreciate the ladies in KCM. Groups of girls will then bid on the guy group which they want to “buy”, and the group that bids highest will win the opportunity to spend a night with the guys of the bought group. The best part is, all proceeds will go to missions! Come out for a night of joy, laughter, and mutual edification!

4. UCLA/USC Night – Week TBD
As Christians, we are called to love all who we encounter, showing no partiality. UCLA/USC Night is the perfect way to demonstrate this! We may be crosstown rivals, but we are first identified by Christ, and thus, let us show love to our Trojan brothers and sisters as they come over to Westwood (the best city in the West). Come out for a night of worship, meeting new people, and fun activities! Time is TBD.

5. Powderpuff – Week TBD
Powderpuff has been going on for a couple years now between Riverside and USC KCM, and for the first time, UCLA KCM has decided to get in mix! So to all the ladies who want to be active and play some good ol’ fashioned flag football, this is for YOU! Practices for Powederpuff will start soon, so if you are interested, please contact Josh Shin (714-833-9967,  itsjoshigi@gmail.com) or Phoebe Lim (213-321-9313, pxlimbo@gmail.com).

6. Room Change
If any of you went to CS50 this past Thursday and noticed all the KCM people were missing,  it is because we have moved to Rolfe 1200 for the Winter Quarter. Join us for our weekly General Meetings at 7:00PM!

3. UR (University Retreat) is coming up (Dec. 13-16)! This is our KCM-wide retreat, filled with great sermons (guest speaker Pastor Steven Chong), awesome seminars, God-glorifying praise, and more! But hurry, spots are filling up quick (300 max). Sign up at general meeting, or contact Stephanie Lee (661-993-5504) to secure your spot!

4. If you want to buy a FSF t-shirt, we have extras! They cost $10, which is a huge bargain, because it’s such an awesome shirt. We will be selling them at general meeting this Thursday. Limited availability, first come first serve!

5. I am sorry to say, but the highly anticipated kayaking trip on Veteran’s Day has been canceled due to the high chance of rain. We’ll announce if there are any alternate plans!

Wow, it’s a little more than half way through the quarter! I hope that all of you have been able to see the ways in which the Lord has been working in your life during the time you’ve been at UCLA.

Hey everyone!

Tonight is our Progressive Dinner, where you get to go to a variety of apartments, listen to mission testimonies from students who went on short-term mission trips, and get a taste of the different foods of the world. Countries include India, China, Nicaragua, Uganda, and more! For dormers, we will be providing rides at Sunset Parking Lot Level 1 at 6:45PM. Come on by for a night of missions and fellowship!

Hey all you juniors out there,

Whether you are a transfer, checking out KCM for the first time or you come to KCM regularly, there will be a junior class hangout this upcoming Monday 10/3/11. It will be 1400 Midvale Ave. Apt#316 from 6pm to 11pm for pizza, games, and fellowship in general. If you are interested in coming, rides will be provided. Hey everyone!

Now that zero week is over, we will have our first general meeting on Thursday (9/29/11) at 7pm in cs50. If you are coming from the dorms, dormers will meet in front of Sproul Hall at 6:30pm to walk together to general meeting.
